OPIS Global LPG Conference – Recap

OPIS’ first Global LPG Conference took place in Houston last week. Over 200 people from 25 different countries attended. That’s not too bad for an inaugural LPG conference!

The conference included multiple presentations about the continued growth in Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) production for years to come.  Out of the NGL stream, ethane may be the product to watch.

Enterprise, Energy Transfer, and Targa all provided market updates on export growth.  India, the third-largest LPG consumer, could see the most global LPG growth as their population base expands.

Development of the LPG Financial Market

Regardless of demand growth in any nation, one central fact was evident throughout the whole conference – the world depends on North American LPG for supply and pricing.

On that last point, Twin Feathers had the opportunity to explain why the current LPG financial market is NOT as developed as the crude oil market.  Three things could help the LPG market expand and reach the developed status of oil:

  1. More speculative trading funds
  2. Growth in options trading
  3. Expansion of the forward pricing curve for propane (and other NGL’s)

Twin Feathers Team – Growing Beyond Our Borders!

The Twin Feathers team appreciated the opportunity to speak to the group as well as the chance to meet many new faces from other countries.   As the Twin Feathers team continues to expand beyond our original North American borders, we encourage LPG and fuel distributors to reach out to us with any question. We look forward to listening to your challenges and providing creative solutions.
